DNAP 516 Advanced Anatomy for the Nurse Anesthetist

This course provides an in-depth study of human anatomy with a specific focus on structures and systems relevant to the practice of nurse anesthesia. Emphasis is placed on the neuroanatomical, cardiothoracic, respiratory, vascular, and musculoskeletal systems as they relate to anesthetic management, airway control, regional anesthesia techniques, and perioperative care. Nurse Anesthesia Residents (NARs) will develop a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between structure, function, and anesthetic practice.

The required laboratory section offers hands-on learning through anatomical models and virtual dissection technologies. Lab activities reinforce didactic content by allowing students to visualize anatomical.

By the end of the course, NARs will demonstrate advanced anatomical knowledge required for safe, evidence-based anesthesia practice and be prepared to apply this foundation in both clinical and simulation settings.
