DNAP 525 Advanced Physical Health Assessment

This course provides in-depth instruction in advanced physical health assessment applicable to nurse anesthesia residents (NARs), Allied Health Professionals, and advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). Through lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, anatomy lab sessions, and simulation-based learning, students will develop advanced skills in the physical assessment of all body systems. Emphasis is placed on cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurologic, renal, and endocrine function. The course includes interpretation of laboratory data and selected diagnostic studies such as pulmonary function tests, chest radiographs, 12-lead electrocardiograms (EKGs), and cardiology studies. One two-hour lecture and one two-hour lab per week.
