EDEC 310 Positive Relationships & Equity in Early Childhood Education
This course is designed for students to explore the foundational and theoretical underpinnings of social and emotional development for children ages birth through 8 as well as the components and practices needed to create equitable early learning environments. This course is built around The Pyramid Model for Supporting Social Emotional Competence in young children. It addresses the promotion, prevention and intervention strategies and effective practices related to young children’s social and emotional development and challenging behavior. Students will also explore how to create equitable learning environments for young children, learning about and planning around anti-bias education goals and how to foster connections with families and the community.
